📚 Material Summary
Apa itu Recount Text?
Recount text adalah jenis teks yang menceritakan kembali pengalaman atau kejadian yang sudah terjadi di masa lalu. Tujuannya adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau menghibur pembaca.
Generic Structure (Struktur Teks)
- Orientation: Pengenalan (siapa, kapan, di mana, apa)
- Events: Urutan kejadian (apa yang terjadi)
- Re-orientation: Penutup (kesimpulan atau perasaan penulis)
Language Features (Ciri Kebahasaan)
- Menggunakan Past Tense (was, were, went, did, etc.)
- Menggunakan Time Connectors (first, then, after that, finally)
- Menggunakan Action Verbs (went, ate, saw, played)
- Menggunakan Specific Participants (I, my family, we)
Contoh Simple Recount Text:
Orientation: Last Sunday, I went to the beach with my family.
Events: We arrived at 9 AM. First, we played volleyball. Then, we swam in the sea. After that, we had lunch together.
Re-orientation: It was a wonderful day. I was very happy.

Reading 1: My Holiday in Bali
Last month, my family and I went to Bali for a holiday. We stayed there for five days. On the first day, we visited Tanah Lot Temple. It was very beautiful, especially during sunset. The waves were very big and strong.
On the second day, we went to Kuta Beach. We played in the sand and swam in the sea. My brother and I tried surfing for the first time. It was difficult but fun. In the evening, we ate dinner at a seafood restaurant near the beach.
On the third day, we visited Ubud. We saw the monkey forest and watched a traditional Balinese dance. The monkeys were funny but a little bit scary. On the last day, we went shopping for souvenirs before going to the airport.
It was an amazing holiday. I want to go back to Bali again someday.
Reading 2: My First Day at Junior High School
I still remember my first day at junior high school. It was on July 15th, 2023. I woke up very early because I was excited and nervous. My mother prepared my favorite breakfast, fried rice.
When I arrived at school, I saw many new students. We had an orientation program in the hall. The principal gave a speech and introduced all the teachers. After that, we went to our classrooms. My homeroom teacher's name was Mrs. Diana. She was very kind and friendly.
During break time, I made new friends. Their names were Rina and Doni. We talked about our favorite subjects and hobbies. Rina liked English and Doni liked Mathematics. I told them that I liked Science.
At the end of the day, I felt very happy. I was not nervous anymore. I looked forward to going to school the next day.
Reading 3: A Trip to the Zoo
Yesterday, my class went on a field trip to the zoo. We left school at 8 o'clock in the morning. The bus ride took about one hour. All of my classmates were very excited.
When we arrived at the zoo, our teacher divided us into small groups. My group had five students. First, we visited the elephant area. The elephants were very big and intelligent. One elephant used its trunk to spray water. It was so funny!
Then, we went to see the lions. They were sleeping under a big tree. After that, we watched the bird show. The birds could do many tricks. One parrot could say "Hello" and "Thank you" in English.
At lunchtime, we had a picnic in the park area. We ate sandwiches and drank juice. After lunch, we visited the gift shop and bought some souvenirs. We arrived back at school at 3 PM.
It was a fun and educational trip. I learned a lot about animals.

Sarah's Birthday Party
First, we played some games in the garden. We played musical chairs and treasure hunt. Everyone had so much fun! Then, my mother brought out the birthday cake. It was a chocolate cake with strawberries on top. It looked delicious!
After we sang the birthday song, I blew out the candles and made a wish. Then we ate the cake and other snacks. My friends gave me many presents. I got some books, toys, and clothes.
At 6 PM, the party ended. I was tired but very happy. It was the best birthday party ever!
